This was the pond when we bought the house. It was not lined and had all sorts of stuff growing in in. It is a low spot on the property so it is the recipient of a lot of ground water. However, in the summer it pretty much dries up unless water is manually added.
We decided that if we were going to have a pond, it needed to be done correctly. and so the pond project began.
We drained the pond. Fish ended up fertilizer for a flower bed. We posted a want ad for old carpet on freecycle and we were able to recycle some that we received and use it to go between the ground and the liner.
Tad ordered a big pile of river stone!
We hand placed each stone except the big boulders, those were done with the tractor. Laying them atop the liner as we proceeded...slowly ...
Finally, all the stones are in place and the pond is ready for water. Tad has placed some drain pipes to help fill the pond with rain water. Hopefully by next summer we can think about adding a water wheel and some goldfish!

Wow, that will look great - you guys did a lot of work to refurbish the pond! We had an overgrown pond in Holland, so I know how much work that is!
The month of Nov. I'll celebrate my 1 year blog on Blogger, thanks to you! (but I'm hardly on Myspace anymore - not enough time:( )
How are you doing?
