4 days in Tenacatita

We left Chamela dragging our feet (we loved it there) Wednesday the 23rd. We arrived at Tenacatita 7 hours later, motoring all the way. There was no significant wind, mostly just a slight breeze on the nose. Swells were about 5-6 feet making it a somewhat comfortable trip.

We thought Tenacatita was going to be bigger than Chamela but when we arrived, we found that it was actually smaller due to the anchorage being off a beach far from where the restaurants and stores were located. No internet or phone either! *gasp*

Tad’s 60th Birthday arrived quietly on the 25th. To celebrate we took ourselves on a self guided jungle river dinghy trip.

Mangroves and flowering vines canopied parts of the channel. We saw a lot of egrets and we laughed at the pelicans perched in the trees. We didn’t see any alligators, but are assured there are a few here. Tendrils of aerial roots dangle 15 ft. The water was so clear; its reflection was like a mirror. There are red crabs on the branches of the bushes. (The next day we kayaked in the river!)

We arrived at the lagoon on the other side about 45 minutes later. We were greeting by dinghy security (LOL) who requested a small donation to “watch” our dinghy. We walked into town and down the street, stopping to gaze at the ocean and locate the market. We found the snorkel beach called “the Aquarium” and then went for lunch at Fiesta Mexicana where we dined on ceviche, mixed seafood salad and drank cold beer.

We bought some fresh fruits & veggies and then retraced our dinghy trip back to the anchorage side. Went for a cool swim and celebrated Tad’s b-day with a square of Coconut Candy/Cake :o)

Happy 60th my sweet man!
