California Buckeye Art

Our living room was a bit bare so we began to contemplate our need for a coffee table. Tad suggested a burl wood look. We found a place online in Port Townsend, WA called Forest Gems Gallery that seemed to have some interesting pieces so we took a day drive over.

The regular burl wood tables didn't appeal to me as much as I had hoped. However, this little gem caught my eye. It's a piece by Harvey T. Windle made from California Buckeye wood (also known as Horse Chestnut)

It initially had a larger piece of glass for the top but we switched it out to a more appropriate size in the store and it was perfect! It it so interesting to look at and we just love our new table!
