Day 8, Saturday: It was muggy and a little overcast today so we put on our walking shoes and headed for old town Puerto Vallarta and the boardwalk. It was a healthy walk. I loved seeing all the sidewalk artists. There were painters, sand building artists and even this guy balancing boulders, no sticky stuff either…he was really balancing these things! They ask for tips if you take a photo and this is how they make a living. Neat!
We went to a restaurant along the river called Marisco’s for a light lunch and some iced tea to cool off. An iguana made his way into the dining area and was swiftly assisted out by the waiter.. lol.. That was cool! Then we went walking through the markets and all the vendors. On the boardwalk we tried to spot the sailboats racing in an event called Bandaras Bay Regatta scheduled for today. We could barely see the sails from so far away. Wish we would have brought binoculars on this trip.
We caught the city bus back to the hotel. The guy just kept loading people on; we were squished up like sardines! We went to the grocery, came back to the room just as fireworks were lighting up the sky. We watched a movie then fell asleep with the doors wide open and the ocean breeze floating through the room. This first week has gone by so fast but it is so perfect!
Day 9, Sunday: Late morning, I think we were tired from yesterday. It feels a little cooler today so we spent the morning playing tennis. It wasn’t long before we were sweating all over. The moisture in the air catches up to you really fast when you are exercising! The pool was next on the agenda. We swam some laps to cool off then sat in the shade. Tad read a book and I listened to a “La Bamba” Spanish lesson on my ipod.
We had lunch on our balcony. The breeze has picked up and it’s nice and cool. There is a guy playing guitar down on the beach. A nice relaxing Sunday!
