Day 12, Wed; March 28. Big day! We caught the bus to Centro but the driver dropped us off early (must have been his break time) announcing, “that’s it” .. lol.. so we walked the rest of the way, down the malacon to the next bus depot. We saw these men on a pole, upside down, spinning and performing for onlookers on the beach.
This time we caught a bus traveling further south to Boca de Tomatlan, the end of the road, literally. We ventured to the water to obtain a water taxi and where we had to wait for 1 hour. The beach café where we waited had a few hairless dogs wandering around. Tad, of course, took a photo just as one was peeing!
The water taxi finally arrived and we boarded it with the southern destination of Yelapa. It is very picturesque with its background of the jungle and its old time village. We bypassed the tourist ridden beach and followed a trail into the jungle. It was so green and beautiful. There were these fabulous butterflies of all different colors and designs on their wings. Just gorgeous!
The trail led us back to the beach and then over to explore the hillside village. The village was very old and had few residents. It was neat though, still having that authentic Mexican feel to it. Hiking up to a waterfall just behind the village, we got a good idea of what it must be like to live in this area. We spotted this big fish that a local resident had just purchased from a fisherman:We only had but a few hours in Yelapa before the water taxi’s last run back, so we headed back to the beach café, had a cold beer and watched the tourists being rounded up like cattle.
A dog wandered over by our table and promptly took a crap! Of course, Tad once again took a photo! I do have it, but I’m not posting it..gross!
It wasn’t long before we too were herded into our water taxi and headed back to Boca to catch the buses back to the hotel zone.
We ate cold grapes, salad with avocado/salsa dressing and leftovers on our balcony watched Oprah and fell asleep.
