Greenmarket & Empire State Building!

We woke up early today, had some breakfast and the walked to Union Square to check out the NYC flagship Greenmarket.

I am a HUGE lover of browsing farmer's Market and this one was very interesting!
I'd say similar to our local farmer's Market but a bit more gourmet than we experience in Puget Sound.

Here, customers have access to homegrown produce, pretzels, meats, cheeses, jams, honeys and a chance to meet the local farmers, bakers, and harvesters behind them. Much of the fare is organic or naturally-grown, and all of it is local, including brick-thick marbled Delmonicos cut from grass-fed beef, succulent tangles of organic greens, and bushels of heirloom apples and pears.

Tad drooled over the plump red tomatoes and I held an ostrich egg. It was very heavy!

They also had emu eggs!

Then we headed down 5th avenue to the Empire State Building. We went all the way up to the 106th floor! There we took in incredible 360 degree views of the city.

Here we are ~ on top of the world!

Afterward, we headed back to Union Square Greenmarket where we bought some fresh pressed apple cider and some healthy lentil & risotto wraps and sat in the park with others enjoying their lunches and people watching.

There was this exhibit in the park where people made different shelters. I thought this one was interesting, made out of signs typically held by people begging on street corners.

We also saw the outdoor chess players in the park and a few artists trying to sell their work.

Then we headed back to the hotel to rest up for our hot date in NYC!
