Journey in the Mist

We left Anacortes in the am yesterday, briefly traveling through a light fog, then had an uneventful trip across Juan De Fuca until .. about 10 miles from our Port Angeles destination when we were enveloped in a fog bank. Good news, the radar works! we were able to get some hands on time working the radar, GPS and the fog horn. It was so erie to hear the bells and horns of ships nearby, yet not be able to see them. A few ships would come into view very briefly and then quickly disappear (see above photo). I called them 'ghost ships!'

Tad decided to call the Coast Guard to see if there were any Pilot boats to help guide us into the harbor. A Big Tug boat was behind us and stepped in to help us out since he knew the area very well. 'Lindsey Foss' passed us on the starboard side and we followed behind. If you look close in the photo below, you can just barely see him! He was right in front of us! Anyhow, he took us all the way to the marina entrance. BIG HUGS to BIG TUGS!

We fueled up and then settled in on the guest dock. It's very cold, wet and foggy here.
